"I Do!" Crew Spotlight: Meet Dream Day Dressing Rooms

In nearly five years of being a wedding pro, I've seen quite a few bridal suites, and some weren't so...sweet. From beautiful brides getting ready in venue locker rooms with small mirrors to a makeshift office space at an event center where bridesmaids had to stash their belongings before the ceremony, the spaces didn't exactly belie the excitement and elegance of that day. Of course, the getting ready space doesn't make the wedding, but it helps to have a place to relax and gather with your best friends before you walk that aisle to marry your other best friend, right? Enter Dream Day Dressing Rooms to your "I do!" rescue! I invited Amy Michaels of D3R to chat about how this mother-daughter team started a unique and amazing wedding day service for couples.

"Planning a wedding was one of the most stressful times in my life.

One morning while I was working on crossing things off my ever growing wedding to-do list with my mom, we decided to tackle one of my biggest problems. The beautiful hotel we had chosen for our wedding only had a plain conference room for me and my TEN bridesmaids to get ready in. We knew we were going to either have to bring in a whole lot of mirrors ourselves or find somewhere we could rent them from. After doing a quick internet search, we were shocked to find that none of the rental companies in Minnesota had anything that we were looking for. We were surprised that there was such an obvious gap in the wedding market. My mom, being the superwoman she is, got to work. If we couldn't find a place to rent furniture for my wedding day, she would buy it herself and start her own business.

Plenty of Mirrors!

We then brainstormed what we would need to create the bridal suite of my dreams: a comfortable couch and chairs, a full length mirror, a steamer, garment racks for all of our dresses and lighted vanities. We wanted to create a space that was comfortable enough for my large bridal party to hang out in all day without feeling confined. If you've ever had to get ready in a room with a handful of other women, you also understand the importance of not having to fight over mirrors.

Relaxing in the Custom Bridal Suite

Having this gorgeous space to get ready in made my wedding day so much more enjoyable. It was nice to have a “home base” for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen (we do rooms for the guys too). Most importantly, it saved us from having to completely trash the suite we would be staying in on our wedding night.

Now that my wedding is over and I'm enjoying my first year as a newlywed, I want to help other brides have a wedding day that was as seamless and fun as mine was."
